arnegie Hill, one of the City's most attractive and varied neighborhoods, rests on a hilly plateau that effectively forms a village extending from 86th to 96th streets between Central Park and Third Avenue, and up to 98th Street from Fifth to Madison avenues. Carnegie Hill Neighbors was organized in 1970 to oppose the construction of two high-rise apartment buildings and to preserve the historic character of this neighborhood.

Today, Carnegie Hill Neighbors is the voice of the neighborhood, actively involved in addressing out-of-scale and out-of-context building proposals. In addition, it is an effective volunteer organization dedicated to maintaining the quality of life in the area. For more than 35 years, Carnegie Hill Neighbors has proved that by working together, concerned residents can shape their community into a truly satisfying place in which to live.
