arnegie Hill Neighbors manages two quality-of-life programs for the community:
The Patrol Car
and the Park Avenue Malls Planting Program. The organization underwrites and collects voluntary contributions from area buildings to fund these programs.

malls

CHN administers and underwrites the beautification of the Park Avenue malls between 86th and 96th streets. The funding for the planting of the seasonal flowers and the maintenance of the grass, hedges, and trees is provided by the boards of the cooperatives and condominiums along Park Avenue through a type of “conservancy” fund initiated by CHN in 1979. For most years, there has been 100 percent participation. Rental buildings and small buildings are not approached for contributions.

Safety Patrol Program

CHN strives to maintain and improve the quality of life in Carnegie Hill and our Safety Patrol Program is instrumental in contributing to the sense of security we all enjoy. Not only do residents feel safer when they know the patrol cars are traversing the neighborhood, their very presence discourages potential criminal actions.

The CHN Safety Patrol Program was started in 1993 to provide an extra set of eyes and ears for the community and assist the police in ensuring the security of the neighborhood. Now, with the recent engagement of Integrated Security Services, CHN’s guards work more closely than ever with the 19th Precinct. On the recommendation of the NYPD, the nightly shifts are split between patrolling on foot (checking in with doormen and businesses) and patrolling the streets by car. More than 80 neighborhood buildings provide the funding for the program that protects everyone. If your building is not listed at the right, please speak to a member of your board about joining your neighbors in helping to ensure a safe community. The annual cost is only $35 per household unit.

The members of the Patrol Program committee work actively to enlist participation in the program by every large co-op and condominium in the neighborhood. These salient points should encourage every building to join our program:

To reach Integrated Security’s dispatch, please call: (888) 808-9119

If your building is not a supporter listed below, it means that the residents of your building are benefiting from service funded by other neighbors. Please ask a member of your board of directors to contact CHN for an information packet or for a CHN representative to present our case at a board meeting. For more information, call the Carnegie Hill Neighbors office at 212-996-5520 or send us an e-mail.
