Joanna Cawley, Executive Director

I was thrilled at the opportunity to join as Executive Director in the summer of 2016, to continue CHN's mission and grow the organization's identification and outreach into the community. Having grown up in a Carnegie Hill historic landmark, I knew from an early age the responsibility that comes with stewarding a piece of NYC's ever dwindling historic house supply. I went to elementary and high school in the neighborhood, but left to complete a BFA at Pratt Institute, and returned for graduate work at The Cooper Hewitt, now National Design Museum.  Before joining CHN, I owned and operated a small commercial art studio, producing porcelain tableware and teaching the fundamentals of thrown and hand built pottery. As a former small business owner, one of my favorite things to do in Carnegie Hill is to bike around the neighborhood and check in on our small businesses, and work on initiatives to shop, dine and work local.
