About Our Annual Events

Educational Neighborhood Walking Tours

Carnegie Hill Neighbors’ educational walking tours are designed to deepen appreciation for the rich architectural, cultural, and historical fabric of our neighborhood. Led by Lo van der Valk, CHN's President and preservation expert, these tours offer residents and visitors an opportunity to explore the stories behind Carnegie Hill’s iconic buildings, hidden gems, and evolving streetscapes.

Whether highlighting historic rowhouses, significant landmarks, or the neighborhood’s role in shaping New York City, our tours foster a stronger connection to place and inspire stewardship of our community’s unique character.

Weekly Tai Chi Classes

In partnership with Health Advocates for Older People, CHN offers free weekly Tai Chi and 10-Form classes designed to promote balance, flexibility, and mindfulness. These gentle movements help improve strength, coordination, and focus—supporting both physical wellness and a sense of community among older adults.

Annual Spooktacular

This beloved neighborhood tradition has grown into a full Halloween celebration block party, now stretching from Fifth Avenue to Park Avenue! Open to the public, the Annual Carnegie Hill Spooktacular—organized by Carnegie Hill Neighbors—brings families together each October for festive fall fun. The lively afternoon features costume contests, music, dancing, trick-or-treating, and plenty of candy. It’s a joyful celebration of community spirit—where spooky meets sweet, and neighbors of all ages gather to enjoy the magic of Carnegie Hill.

Annual Spring Benefit

Each spring, Carnegie Hill Neighbors hosts our Annual Spring Benefit—a joyful celebration of community, connection, and local pride. In both 2024 and 2025, we gathered at the historic Burden Mansion, one of our neighborhood’s treasured landmarks, for an unforgettable evening of conversation, music, and shared purpose.

More than just a fundraiser, the Spring Benefit brings together neighbors, supporters, and partners to support CHN’s work—from beautification and advocacy to tree care and safety initiatives. It’s a chance to connect with one another, celebrate what makes Carnegie Hill special, and invest in its continued vitality

CHN Annual Meeting
Our Annual Meeting is a cornerstone event that brings the Carnegie Hill community together for a look back—and a look ahead.  Join us as we share highlights from the past year, celebrate neighborhood accomplishments, and offer a glimpse into what's next for Carnegie Hill Neighbors. It’s also a chance to meet fellow residents, connect with CHN leadership, and learn how you can get involved in shaping the future of our neighborhood. All are welcome—come for the updates, stay for the community.

Community Conversations & Forums

In addition to our events and advocacy, Carnegie Hill Neighbors hosts roundtables, candidate forums, and civic discussions as a resource for our community. These gatherings offer neighbors the chance to hear directly from local leaders, ask questions, and engage in thoughtful dialogue on issues that matter—from public safety and city planning to education and small business support. By fostering informed conversations, we help ensure that Carnegie Hill remains not just connected—but empowered.

Shopping in Carnegie Hill – Community Benefit Shopping Days

Our Shopping in Carnegie Hill events highlight the power of local support. By partnering with neighborhood businesses like J. McLaughlin, DSF Home, Edit New York and others, these events encourage residents to shop locally—with a portion of proceeds directly supporting CHN’s community initiatives.

These benefit shopping days strengthen our neighborhood by boosting local businesses and supporting vibrant commercial corridors, funding community advocacy and improvements, and bringing neighbors together to foster connection and a stronger sense of community. When you shop local during these events, you’re not only supporting the small businesses that make Carnegie Hill unique—you’re also investing in the health, beauty, and vitality of our neighborhood.

If you are a local business in Carnegie Hill interested in co-hosting one of these events with us, reach out to info@chneighbors.org
